The mission of the Satellite Archaeology Foundation is to research, discover and explore new archaeological sites using satellite imagery. The Satellite Archaeology Foundation promotes satellite archaeology by utilizing contributions to support new archaeological discoveries.
The Satellite Archaeology Foundation, Inc. was founded by Angela Micol, an amateur archaeologist with a passion and a dream to make new discoveries with satellite imagery and to connect archaeologists, scientists, amateurs, enthusiasts and researchers all over the world. The goal is to build a community where theories and scientific methodologies are in place to help deduce, investigate and discover new sites from satellite imagery.
The Satellite Archaeology Foundation, Inc. is not affiliated with any institution or organization but is an independent nonprofit corporation. Funding is supplied by the public and our vision is to propel satellite archaeology to new heights as a valid form of scientific inquiry within the archaeological community. Imaging techniques have been developed as a set of methodologies to determine if a site is a true archaeological site before going to the site to ground proof the research area. These methodologies have been used to help find some of the projects that are currently in need of volunteers.
